‘A Kurt Bestor Christmas’ returns to ISU Dec. 18

鈥淎 Kurt Bestor Christmas鈥 returns for a third year to 色花堂app at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.
Bestor鈥檚 performance is part of the 2007-08 鈥淎 Season of Note鈥 concert series. There are only a limited number of tickets left to this popular show.
This Christmas show captures the spirit of the season with a starry stage, featured musicians and orchestra, as well as Bestor鈥檚 own playing, conducting and emceeing. He is perhaps best known for his innovative interpretation of seasonal carols on 鈥淜urt Bestor Christmas, Volumes One and Two.鈥 Bestor has produced 20 CDs during his career including 鈥淭he Dance,鈥 鈥 Sketches,鈥 鈥 Seasons,鈥 鈥 Evening Angels,鈥 鈥淣oel鈥 and 鈥淥ne Silent Night.鈥
For more than a decade, Bestor鈥檚 film scores, television themes, compositions and carols have provided an indelible soundtrack for American life. Indeed, much of Bestor鈥檚 own life has been dedicated to creating musical parallels to visual images.
The Utah-based composer and performer launched his career writing music for television and movies. His credits include more than 30 film scores and more than 40 themes for national TV programs and commercials. It is Bestor鈥檚 music that has introduced 鈥淕ood Morning America,鈥 鈥淣FL Monday Night Football,鈥 and ABC鈥檚 鈥淪unday Night Movie.鈥 He scored TBS鈥檚 鈥淲ild! Life Adventures鈥 and the IMAX film 鈥淕reat American West.鈥
He also was given the Outstanding Film Score Award at the New York Film and Television Festival for his music for PBS鈥檚 鈥淎 More Perfect Union.鈥 Bestor was awarded an Emmy for his collaboration with Sam Cardon on the original music for ABC鈥檚 coverage of the 1988 Winter Olympics.
