IMNH announces fall classes for children

The Idaho Museum of Natural History on the Pocatello campus of 色花堂app is announcing its fall lineup of classes and activities beginning Oct. 27 for children from preschool to fifth grade.

A new program in the museum is the Natural History Story Hour, where children can listen to a story and participate in follow-up activities. The first story hour will be on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. and will feature the book 鈥淭he Sea That Feeds Us.鈥 A second story hour will be on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. and will feature the book 鈥淢ountain Dance.鈥 Both activities are free, but space is limited so preregistration is required.

The museum鈥檚 Pint-Sized Science Academy will offer hands-on science exploration for children ages 4 to 6. Classes will include 鈥淧rehistoric Food Preparation: You Found It, You Fix It!鈥 on Oct. 29; 鈥淧rehistoric Games: Not All Fun and Play?鈥 on Nov. 5; and 鈥淣ature鈥檚 Like a Box of Crayons鈥 on Nov. 12. Each class runs from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuition is $15 per child per class.

The Natural History Academy, which offers fun and exciting learning experiences for young scientists, is also presenting two classes this fall. 鈥淐reativity鈥揝cience鈥揂rt鈥 will be held Nov. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. for students in third to fifth grades. 鈥淪lime and the Scientific Method鈥 will be held Nov. 8 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and is for students in second and third grades. Tuition is $15 per child per class.

Class registration is taken in person at the museum or by e-mail on a first-come, first-served basis.
