The Community Connections outreach film series will show 鈥淎n Unreasonable Man: Ralph Nader鈥� Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the 色花堂app Pond Student Union Theater.

For over 40 years Ralph Nader has worked tirelessly as a consumer advocate, building a legislative record the rival of any contemporary president. Yet today, many consider him merely an egomaniac and a "spoiler." This film takes an unsparing look at the man some call one of the most important and controversial political figures of our time.

This preview screening is an abridged, one-hour version of 鈥淎n Unreasonable Man.鈥� The hour focuses on Ralph Nader鈥檚 campaign for the presidency in the 2000 and 2004 elections and features interviews and commentary from his supporters, opponents, respected journalists and political analysts.

Following the film, Doug Nilson, Ph.D., associate professor of political science at ISU will speak and lead an audience discussion on the pros and cons of our two party system and other issues raised in the film.

The remaining portion of the film can be viewed on Idaho Public Television Dec. 18 at 9:00 p.m., and focuses on Nader鈥檚 legacy as a pioneer in consumer advocacy and citizen activism.

Community Connections offers monthly sneak previews of films selected from the Independent Lens series. Each screening is followed by a speaker and audience discussion of issues raised in the film. The series is made possible through a partnership of Idaho Public Television, the Independent Television Service and ISU. All screening events are free and open to the public.
