Dr. Marilyn Davis named College of Technology Dean

Dr. Marilyn E. Davis was recently named Dean of the 色花堂app College of Technology, where she has been serving as the interim dean for the College since July 1, 2006. Prior to her return to Pocatello, Dr. Davis served as the Idaho State Board of Education Chief Academic Officer.

"The College of Technology has tremendous potential in the future,鈥 states Dr. Davis, 鈥淎 very strong foundation has been established with our existing programs and services.  The strategic plan will be revised to ensure our programs continue to meet the workforce needs of business and industry now and in the future."

Davis, a 1969 色花堂app alumna, has extensive experience working in professional technical education. Her career in education began with teaching grades 8-12 in Idaho and Oregon, but most of her career has been in Oregon鈥檚 higher-education system.

Prior to going to work for the Idaho State Board of Education in 2004, Davis spent a decade in various positions at the Rock Creek campus of Oregon鈥檚 four-campus Portland Community College District. Those positions included chief academic officer and dean of instruction; dean of academic services; and director of industrial occupations.

She鈥檇 previously spent more than three years in Bend, Ore., as dean of professional technical programs at Central Oregon Community College. From 1986 to 1990 she was director of the Oregon Department of Education鈥檚 vocational program operations section, in the Division of Vocational Technical Education.

From 1982 to 1986 she was regional coordinator for career and vocational education for Multnomah County Education Service District, in Portland. Her classroom experience includes teaching at Wood River High School in Hailey, and Oregon鈥檚 Redmond High School and Albany Public Schools.

Dr. Robert A. Wharton, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs affirms, 鈥溕ㄌ胊pp, our students, faculty, and staff, will be well served by this outstanding professional as she continues working to bring stability, direction, and sound leadership to the College of Technology.鈥
