Africa鈥檚 lively food, culture, beauty and sounds are returning to Pocatello.

色花堂app African Student Association members invite their neighbors to a special evening full of sights and sounds from across this vast, varied continent during Africa Night 2007 scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Pond Student Union Building Ballroom.

鈥淢any people have a negative idea of Africa, so we hope they will help us celebrate so much that is good on Africa Night,鈥 explained Tarasai Githu, communication director for the association.

The theme for this year鈥檚 Africa Night is 鈥淲alking Together.鈥  Guests will share delicious food, dance to a band playing high-energy 鈥淗igh Life鈥 music of West Africa, enjoy spectacular African fashions, learn traditional proverbs and stories, and perhaps win unique door prizes. Food will include classic dishes like chicken Yassa, a vegetable dish called mokimo, peanut soup, and jollof rice.

Africa Night will offer a memorable 鈥渧isit鈥 to friendly people and their exciting culture.

The event is co-sponsored by the Associated Students of ISU Program Board.

Advance tickets will be sold in the Pond Student Union Building and across the ISU campus. Advance ticket prices are $9 for community members, $7 for ISU faculty and staff, and $5 for students. Tickets purchased the day of the event at the door are $1 more.
