ISU Marketing and Communications

The 色花堂app Women鈥檚 Choir and Chamber Choir will join the Women鈥檚 Choir from Hillcrest High School for a choral concert on Friday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

General admission is $5, $3 for ISU faculty and staff, and free to ISU students with ID.

The ISU Women鈥檚 Choir will perform 鈥淐antique de Jean Racine鈥 by Gabriel Faure; 鈥淟et Us Imitate Her Notes鈥 from George Frideric Handel鈥檚 1736 鈥淎lexander鈥檚 Feast鈥; and 鈥淪ee the Gypsies鈥 by Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967). The Women鈥檚 Choir will be led by founder and director Kathleen A. Lane, with accompaniment by Carol Hotrum.

Dr. Scott Anderson will lead the ISU Chamber Choir in works to be featured on their upcoming concert tour to Peru, May 20-31:  鈥淥 sacrum convivium鈥 by Tomas Luis de Victoria; 鈥淪anctus in D Major鈥 by J. S. Bach; 鈥淜yrie鈥 from Maurice Durufle鈥檚 鈥淩equiem鈥; and Moses Hogan鈥檚 energetic arrangement of the spiritual 鈥淩ide on, King Jesus.鈥 The Chamber Choir will also present the unique 鈥淏ach (Again)" composed by Edwin London, which is London鈥檚 contemporary re-envisioning of J. S. Bach's revered chorale setting 鈥淜omm s眉sser Tod.鈥

The evening鈥檚 guest ensemble will be the Advanced Women鈥檚 Choir of Hillcrest High School, Idaho Falls, under the baton of Camille Blackburn. Blackburn has worked so closely with the ISU Department of Music that it just seemed high time to feature her choir, according to Prof. Lane.

鈥淚鈥檝e worked with Camille for the past 15 years,鈥 Lane said. 鈥淗er program has produced some of our outstanding students, both music educators and soloists.

鈥淔or years, she鈥檚 been the accompanist for our ISU Choral Invitational in the fall and the ISU Women鈥檚 Choir Festival in the spring,鈥 Lane added. 鈥淪he鈥檚 made herself indispensible.鈥

Hillcrest鈥檚 program includes "We Sing, We Dance!" by Ruth Elaine Schram; "Summer's Farewell," by Frank K. DeWald; and "Sunrise" from 鈥淔our Sacred Songs for the Night 鈥 by Houston Bright. Accompanists will be Cellist Mark Anderson and pianist Candace Cramer.
