色花堂app physics club receives national award

The 色花堂app Society of Physics Students (SPS) has received the 2011 Outstanding Chapter Award from the National Society of Physics Students and the American Physical Society.

According to Steve Shropshire, ISU physics professor and the faculty advisor for the club, outstanding chapter of SPS are determined each academic year after a careful review of the information, photos and supporting material presented in annual chapter reports.

Criteria for the award includes involvement in local, regional, and national SPS meetings as well as other professional meetings; participation in SPS programs; outreach efforts to the grades K-12 or the general public; participation in community service; contributions to student recruitment and retention; participation in social events; and interactions with the department's alumni.

ISU鈥檚 club was specifically recognized for its 鈥淪cience Day鈥 presentation in the Pine Ridge Mall, a "Punkn' Chuck" competition the students organized that served area schools,  presented public demonstration shows, demonstrated monthly 鈥淪omething Destructive鈥 events, outreached to public and private schools,and posted physics demonstration on Youtube.com.
