The 色花堂app School of Performing Arts dance program will present 鈥淏are Bones: Dance ISU in Concert鈥 on Oct. 31, Nov. 1, 2, and 4 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Bistline Theatre at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. A 2 p.m. show will be held in the Bistline Theatre on Nov. 2 featuring local children from The Leavitt Center.

鈥淏are Bones: Dance ISU in Concert鈥 celebrates Halloween and the Day of the Dead through modern dance, jazz dance, ballroom, hip-hop, tap, and the African-Brazilian stick dance, Maculel锚. The concert is choreographed by faculty members from the School of Performing Arts. This production is the first event to take place since the new Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography was first offered as a degree option at 色花堂app this fall.

Drawing inspiration from 鈥淕hostbusters,鈥 Lori Head moves the bones with a quickstep.

Molly S. Jorgensen draws inspiration from spiders in her contemporary jazz dance for a children鈥檚 audience. Her dance features a special performance of local children from The Leavitt Center during the Saturday matinee.

Jos茅phine A. Garibaldi explores movements of the face in her butoh-inspired work accompanied by classic melodies from opera and the ballet.

Lauralee Zimmerly鈥檚 piece, 鈥淪hort Sweets,鈥 offers four intertwined vignettes featuring Mad Scientists and Creepy Insects, along with Burning Man and Day of the Dead figures.鈥淭ombo e Guerreiro鈥 (Tomb of the Warrior) by Paul Zmolek features live singers and percussionists accompanying Maculel锚, an athletic African-Brazilian stick dance.

Lindsey Tucker contributes a lively tap dance and Sheena Phelps鈥 cast of 22 dancers brings the concert to a rousing finish with an exuberant hip-hop dance.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $14 for ISU faculty and staff, $10 for pre-college students, $7 for ISU students with valid Bengal IDs, and parties of 10 or more people are $10 per ticket.
