Student artist Seth Spencer is the winner of the annual 色花堂app holiday card contest.

Spencer earned $1,000 for his work. The winning entry will also appear on the University holiday card, which is sent to thousands of University family members and supporters.

Spencer, an Idaho Falls native, will graduate this spring with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in fine arts.

鈥淢y father is an artist, and I was raised surrounded by artwork,鈥� Spencer said. 鈥淢y inspiration was to combine the iconic buildings and structures of ISU with a simple backdrop that referenced the holiday season.鈥�

Spencer鈥檚 drawing features ISU buildings such as the Stephen鈥檚 Performing Arts Center and Holt Arena inside spherical Christmas tree ornaments.

Contest runner-up is Dylan Childress, who won $500 for his work. Childress drew a tiger with a present bearing the label 鈥淭o Benny from SC.鈥� A snow globe containing a miniaturized Pond Student Union Building sits beside the tiger.
