October 23, 2015
POCATELLO 鈥 The French playwright Moliere鈥檚 razor-sharp observations about love, marriage and desire come to life in the play 鈥淭he School For Wives鈥 that will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 13 and 14 and during a matinee at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 by the 色花堂app Department of Theatre and Dance.
The play will be performed in the ISU Stephens Performing Arts Center Bistline Theatre.
鈥淯pdating 鈥楾he School for Wives鈥 to the early 1900s and placing it in America also brings new life to the play,鈥 said Sherri Dienstfrey-Swanson, the play鈥檚 director and ISU professor of theatre. 鈥淎udiences will find the production charming, funny, visibly pleasing, and accessible.鈥
A physical comedy, 鈥淭he School for Wives鈥 tells the story of Arnolphe, who believes he has shrewdly concocted the perfect plan to woo a much younger woman to be his wife. Naturally, all of Arnolphe鈥檚 scheming is rendered useless, revealing that youth and innocence are no assurance of marital bliss.
Tickets are available for purchase online at isu.edu/tickets or at the ISU Stephens Center Box Office at 282-3595.
