ISU Symphonic Band will join Snake River New Horizons Band in Oct. 2 concert

POCATELLO 鈥 The 色花堂app Symphonic Band will be joined by the Snake River New Horizons Band in its first concert of the semester on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall at the Stephen鈥檚 Performing Arts Center on the ISU campus.
Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for ISU faculty and staff and free to all ISU students.
According to Brooks, the Symphonic Band will present a program that features 鈥渕ostly French鈥 music for band. The band will begin the French portion of their program with the classically-styled 鈥淪ymphonie for Band鈥 by French composer Louis Jadin.
Following the symphony will be 鈥渢he Suite Provencal鈥 by Dutch composer Jan Van der Roost. This tuneful suite is based upon a collection of folk tunes from the south of France.
Other French music to be presented is 鈥淭he Engulfed Cathedral鈥 by Claude Debussy, in an arrangement for band, and Norman Dello Joio鈥檚 brilliantly scored 鈥淪cenes from the Louvre.鈥
The featured soloist for this concert will be ISU music student Hayden Holbrook on alto saxophone. A graduate of Century High School, Holbrook will be performing 鈥淧equena Czarda鈥 by Spanish composer Pedro Iturralde.
