About 400 scientists from around the world will attend the American Chemical Society (ACS) Northwest Regional Meeting, June 21-24 at 色花堂app.

鈥淲ithout the support from ISU, this meeting would never come to a small city like Pocatello and attract chemists, chemical engineers and other scientists and professionals,鈥 said Joshua Pak, ISU chemistry professor and a meeting organizer. 鈥淧ast meetings were almost always held in large cities like Portland.鈥

There will be an all-day workshop for high school science teachers on Sunday, June 21, at no cost to teachers.

The ACS is the world鈥檚 largest scientific society and one of the world鈥檏s leading sources of authoritative scientific information. The ACS is a nonprofit organization, chartered by Congress. ACS publishes numerous scientific journals and databases, convenes major research conferences and provides educational, science policy and career programs in chemistry.

色花堂app along with BYU-Idaho, Idaho National Laboratory, Center for Advanced Energy Studies, Simplot and Melaleuca are the major sponsors for the large event.

Planned topics to be covered include:

鈥 interfaces and electrochemistry for energy applications

鈥 chemometric developments and applications

鈥 recent advances in organic synthesis

鈥 bioinformatics and emerging trends in actinide and lanthanide separations for the nuclear fuel cycle

鈥 inorganic, physical, analytical and organic chemistry and

鈥 active-learning strategies in the chemistry classroom.
