The 色花堂app Bookstore celebrated Dr. Seuss鈥檚 birthday on March 2, sponsoring a 鈥淗ats Off to Reading鈥 event enjoyed by 65 children, who came in three groups, from ISU鈥檚 Early Learning Center.

ISU First Lady Laura Vailas shares a Dr. Seuss tale with children from the Early Learning Center. It would have been Dr. Seuss鈥檚 111th birthday. ISU First Lady Laura Vailas read stories to the children, who were also treated to cupcakes.

鈥淚 was very happy with the event,鈥 said Laurie Richards, manager of the ISU Bookstore. 鈥淒r. Vailas enjoyed reading and an employee, Amanda May, who is in the music department, also read to the kids. The kids asked questions, they giggled and laughed, so I鈥檇 say it all went well.鈥

Dr. Seuss was the pen name for Theodor Seuss Geisel, who lived from March 2, 1904, to Sept. 24, 1991. He was an American writer and cartoonist who wrote 46 children鈥檚 books known for their characters and rhyme.
