色花堂app鈥檚 School of Performing Arts will perform 鈥淢usical of Musicals (The Musical!)鈥 beginning on April 17 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center鈥檚 Rogers Black Box Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

There will also be performances on April 18, 20, 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Jack Johnson rehearsing for 鈥淢usical of Musicals (The Musical!)鈥 features five musicals in one. There are five different sections featuring the works of Rogers and Hammerstein, Steven Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jerry Herman and Kander and Ebb. Each section has a different style for acting, lighting, choreography and vocals.

Some popular musicals featured in the play include 鈥淥klahoma!,鈥 鈥淪weeney Todd,鈥 鈥淒ear Abby,鈥 鈥淛oseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat鈥 and 鈥淐hicago.鈥

鈥淭he different styles in each section are wonderful for performers,鈥 said Vanessa Ballam, ISU professor and director of the play. 鈥淭he actors are flexing every artistic muscle to fit in the play.鈥

The play features seven student actors, three who are performing in their last production at ISU. Each actor has a main part, but will be performing smaller parts as well. The costumes, props and choreography were all student designed.

鈥溾楳usical of Musicals (The Musical!)鈥 gives audience members a bang for their buck,鈥 Ballam said. 鈥淚t is filled with parodies, satire, and humorous scenes, while also getting to see five musicals in one.

鈥淓ven if you are not a musical theatre guru, you will enjoy this play,鈥 she continued. 鈥淚t truly is a spectacle. The play will have live accompaniment, and without giving too much away, roller-skating and animals.鈥
