Community Hate Crime Forum set Feb. 7 at É«»¨ÌÃapp

January 25, 2019

POCATELLO – A Community Hate Crime Forum presented by É«»¨ÌÃapp’s Gender Resource Center and Diversity Resource Center will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Pond Student Union Salmon River Suites.

In an open forum, Pocatello Police Chief Scott Marchand and other community leaders will discuss the dramatic increase in hate crimes reported nationwide.

According to the â€˜s annual Hate Crimes Statistics report, law enforcement agencies reported double-digit increases nationally in hate incidents in 2017 compared to 2016 — a year-over-year jump of 17 percent nationwide.

Hate crimes can have a ripple effect throughout an entire community. This event will open a dialogue on hate crimes and how we can better understand what they are and how to address them.
