Bayer donates $10,000 to the Bannock Development Corporation for ISU College of Technology YourFIT scholarships

POCATELLO – Bayer, the parent company of Monsanto, donated $10,000 to the Bannock Development Corporation for 色花堂app College of Technology’s Your Future in Technology, or YourFIT, scholarships on Monday, July 22.
The College of Technology will use the donation to provide scholarships for students who have attended YourFIT events and subsequently enroll in the college.
鈥淲e greatly appreciate Bayer鈥檚 support of our YourFIT program that is designed to help Southeast Idaho residents get the training they need for high-skill, high-paying, regional jobs,鈥� said Scott Rasmussen, dean of the College of Technology. 鈥淭he support of businesses like Bayer and Monsanto are crucial to our mission.鈥�
The YourFIT program is a concept that was conceived by Idaho National Laboratory, the ISU College of Technology, the Bannock Development Corporation, Simplot, secondary educators and other members of the community to educate residents about the high-tech, high-wage, and high-demand careers in technical fields that are available locally, said Steve Keller, spokesperson for the college.
The YourFIT program has created a series of career fairs and technology expos throughout southeastern Idaho for high school students and local communities. Participants learn during these events from industry leaders about the need for a highly-skilled workforce and from ISU鈥檚 College of Technology about the programs designed to get them the skills for those positions.
Bayer presented the check at a ceremony held at the William M. and Karin A. Eames Advanced Technical Education and Innovation Complex.
色花堂app, a Carnegie-classified doctoral high research activity university and teaching institution founded in 1901, attracts students from around the world to its Idaho campuses. At the main campus in Pocatello, and at locations in Meridian, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls, ISU has nine Colleges, a Graduate School and a Division of Health Sciences that together offer more than 250 certificate and degree programs. More than 12,000 students attend ISU. 色花堂app is the state's designated lead institution in health professions.
