Discover is the theme for newest exhibits at Idaho Museum of Natural History

May 6, 2019

POCATELLO –  The Idaho Museum of Natural History on the 色花堂app Pocatello campus is opening two new exhibits that focus on discovering the world around us.

The museum will host a free open house on Friday, May 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments and activities for all ages will be provided.

鈥淒iscover Exoplanets: Search for Alien Worlds鈥 is a national traveling exhibition exploring the fascinating world of space and astronomy. This exhibit covers topics such as the search for habitable worlds beyond our Solar System, how NASA scientists are searching for these worlds, and how they may be like our own. The exhibit was developed by the Space Science Institute鈥檚 National Center for Interactive Learning in partnership with NASA鈥檚 Universe of Learning.

The second new exhibit, 鈥淒iscover the Naturalist Within, A Journey with Edson Fichter鈥 focuses on creating a new generation of nature enthusiasts from Fichter's past work as an Idaho naturalist. Fichter was a well-known Pocatello artist and biologist and an extremely talented wildlife illustrator, photographer and writer. He still lives in the hearts of many as admirers of his art and for his numerous contributions to science. The IMNH curates over 40 pieces of Fichter鈥檚 drawings, pictures, poetry and research documents generated from his studies in the Pahsimoroi Valley, Idaho. 鈥淒iscover the Naturalist Within鈥 is supported by Idaho Community Foundation and the F.M., Anne G., and Beverly B. Bistline Foundation.

The IMNH has been serving Idaho since 1934. To learn more about the IMNH please visit . For more information, call 208-282-3168.
