Political science professor Kellee Kirkpatrick and English professor Amanda Zink will offer a free community humanities presentation at College of Southern Idaho this week. The talk, which discusses Margaret Atwood's 1984 book, "The Handmaid's Tale," will begin at 6 p.m. in room 119 of CSI鈥檚 Fine Arts building.
The event will feature a screening of the first episode of the television series, political and literary contextual remarks by Kirkpatrick and Zink and a discussion with the audience about the themes of the book, the episode and its contemporary applications. Find more information at .
Kirkpatrick鈥檚 and Zink鈥檚 presentation is part of CSI's Social Science & Humanities Symposium, which focuses on 鈥淎n Exploration of Women's Suffrage: The 19th Amendment at 100.鈥� The symposium is open to the community for a $65 registration fee and runs March 12 and 13.
Other Idaho State faculty represented at the symposium are Erika Kuhlman, Susan Swetnam, Fredi Geisler and David Adler. Kirkpatrick and Zink will give individual talks in addition to their public event.
