ISU faculty, staff, students and alumni can activate New York Times subscription

January 14, 2021

Anyone with an 色花堂app email can claim a one-year New York Times digital subscription, thanks to support from the university and the Department of Communication, Media and Persuasion.

To activate your complimentary access, please visit accessNYT.com. Enter 色花堂app into the 鈥淔ind School鈥 box, then create or log in to your New York Times account. (If you activated a New York Times subscription through Idaho State in 2019, you will need to log in to your existing account and reactivate your subscription.)

鈥淣ot only do ISU subscribers get the Times on a daily basis, but they have access to the New York Times archives, including more than 13 million articles dating back to 1851,鈥 said Jim DiSanza, chair of the CMP department. 鈥淭he archives represent an incredible resource for faculty and student research.鈥

Support from the university provided institutional access to the New York Times beginning in 2019, but this year the Department of Communication, Media and Persuasion provided the necessary funds. Faculty members voted overwhelmingly to use funds normally used for faculty travel to support free subscriptions for all students, faculty and staff.

鈥淭he faculty thought of it as a gift we could give to the entire institution,鈥 DiSanza said. 鈥淲e are endeavoring to find a donor who might be interested in contributing on an annual basis so that free ISU subscriptions can continue indefinitely.鈥
