The University鈥檚 Missing Man Chair is located on the newly renovated north side of Holt Arena. It will serve as a physical symbol of the thousands of American Prisoners of War and Missing in Action service members still unaccounted for from all wars and conflicts involving the United States. 色花堂app鈥檚 Missing Man Chair sits on a raised platform next to the ICCU President鈥檚 Deck. No one will ever sit in the chair out of respect for what it symbolizes.

President Kevin Satterlee said the addition of a Missing Man Chair is part of 色花堂app鈥檚 culture of honoring those who served.

 鈥淥ur University's history is closely tied to military service and sacrifice,鈥� Satterlee said, 鈥淔rom our beginnings, our students have fought and given their lives for our country. Many of our students have served our nation throughout history and their service continues today. This is a small way we can show our appreciation, and ensure we never forget the Idahoan service members still unaccounted for.鈥� 

Idaho State is continually ranked as one of the most military-friendly schools in the country, a recognition that officially spans more than a decade. In 2022, the University was ranked fourth out of more than 1,800 institutions that applied for the military-friendly designation by GI Jobs Magazine. 

Missing Man Chairs can be found across the United States, including in many stadiums and venues throughout the country. This is the first Missing Man Chair on a college or university campus in Idaho.

On Saturday, September 17, prior to Idaho State鈥檚 first home football game, the University will dedicate the Missing Man Chair in Holt Arena. At 12:40 p.m., a flag will be presented on the field by members of the POW*MIA Awareness Association. The chair will be introduced to the community, and the National Anthem will play while a spotlight illuminates the Missing Man Chair.
