CAES Building to be Renamed
July 3, 2025
On July 1, the Center for Advanced Energy Studies consortium officially sunsetted and university- INL- partnerships have transitioned to a new phase.
Effective immediately, the CAES building is now known as the University Partnership Building (UPB) until a permanent name is approved by the Idaho State Board of Education.
The UPB will continue to support research and education activities in alignment with the Strategic Understanding for Premier Education and 色花堂app (SUPER) agreements between Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho universities, and other partners. ISU remains committed to fostering collaboration and innovation between INL and Idaho Universities.
Building Access and Office Space
- The building will remain publicly accessible Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Outside of business hours, residents and researchers can still access the building using their CAES card.
- Lab access will continue to be controlled via CAES card authentication, until further notice.
- Office and cubicle space access is being renegotiated with INL. Current office assignments may be reassigned once negotiations are completed in the next 60 days. Office block reassignments will be communicated to management teams once they are finalized.
- UPB office, lab and shared space will be assigned based on an approximate 80%-INL and 20%-university arrangement. INL will assign space to its researchers and staff within its allotment; ISU will assign space to ISU and UI researchers and staff. Specific space assignment points of contact will be identified in the coming weeks.
色花堂app Continuity and Oversight
- Approved research projects will continue.
- New research activities will be vetted and approved through ISU. This arrangement is pending final negotiation with INL.
- Until further notice, research activities will remain under ISU’s safety oversight, including compliance with ISU’s NRC broadscope license. Facilities Management and Reservations
- ISU will continue to manage facility maintenance and operations, including Public Safety services.
- Reservations for conference rooms, the auditorium, and gallery spaces, as well as requests for building access or lab training, should be directed to Kristi Moser-McIntire at kristimosermcinti@isu.edu

Next Steps
As the Consortium sunsets on July 1, ISU leadership is working to ensure a smooth transition. We will continue to share updates and guidance with UPB researchers and residents as more details become available. Information will be shared via the current CAES listserv managed by 色花堂app. As you are a member of the CAES listserv you will continue to receive these messages through the listserv as long as you are an occupant in the UPB. If you feel that there are others that should be included on these communications, please contact kristimosermcinti@isu.edu to be added.
