色花堂app's Concerts on the Quad Continue Through July
色花堂app’s tradition of free summer concerts continue June 26 and on Thursday evenings throughout the summer, with live music on the Quad, and food available for purchase.
Concerts begin at 6 p.m. on the Quad, and all are welcome to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a casual evening.
This summer’s lineup includes:
June 26: Tom Catmull: Tom Catmull has spent the last 25 years in his adopted hometown of Missoula, MT, presenting words through infectious melody, thoughtful arrangement, storytelling, some finger-picking and clean shirt. The last couple of decades have included seven full length albums, a few television appearances (Montana PBS 11th and Grant), a hundred theater performances (The Wilma, The Rex, The Roxy, The Dennison, etc), dozens of festivals, countless honkytonks and two ridiculously fun national anthems. He’s been the supporting act for Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Musselwhite, Junior Brown, Asleep at the Wheel and a dozen others.
July 3: Connor McClaren: Connor McLaren is a psych-folk artist from Bloomington, Indiana. Referred to as the "American Liam Gallagher but friendlier," he builds his musical home on a faded denim foundation - think Bob Dylan or The Who. His walls can tell a thousand stories and though it’s only apparent in some of the rooms, there’s a distinct love for Reggae, thanks to his yearly pilgrimage to Jamaica. As you look upon the mostly vintage decor, you’ll notice the occasional shiny item - think Mike Posner or Billie Eilish. Everything comes together like cutting edge comfort food for the ears.
July 10: Dawson Moon: From sharing the stage with Zach Bryan to chasing his own country music dreams, Dawson Moon is proving that Pocatello, Idaho is more than just a quiet town—it’s home to one heck of a songwriter. With a sound that’s part folk, part alt-country, and just the right amount of indie soul, Dawson’s music hits deep, poetic, and borderline dangerous if you’re in your feelings.
July 17: JD Eicher: JD Eicher is a Youngstown, OH-area born and bred musician known for dynamic vocals and meaningful, carefully-crafted lyrics. He possesses “an original voice, both literally and figuratively." With a lyrical talent culled from the great tradition of American singer/songwriters, Eicher also brings the melodic sensibility of great British songwriters such as Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello." (Wildy's World)With four full-length albums to his credit, JD was enlisted to create the soundtrack to author Nicholas Sparks’s (The Notebook, A Walk To Remember) 20th novel, Two By Two. The now stand-alone release consists of songs sourced from his previous albums, along with the title track, written specifically for the novel and its themes. An artist who tours extensively in the US, Eicher also founded the Youngstown, OH-based JD’s Summer Songfest festival in 2014, which showcases national and local artists and raises money for a variety of community non-profits. He has shared billing with a wide range of well-known acts, including Coldplay, Maroon 5, Train, Dave Matthews Band, The Fray, Matt Nathanson, Sister Hazel, and more.
July 24: Opskamatrists: The Opskamatrists is a Ska/Reggae/Punk band from Idaho Falls, Idaho. The band was originally formed in late 1998 by brothers Bruce Christensen and Chad Christensen. They have played many shows around Eastern Idaho and frequently venture out to play all over the western United States. The Opskamatrists have been featured on a famous ska radio program called Ska Parade with Tazy Phyllipz, as well as being interviewed and receiving shout-outs from many local music promoters and record companies.
