Nursing Student Jillian Easley wins General George C. Marshall Award

April 23, 2025

At 16, ISU School of Nursing student, Jillian Easley, became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), discovering a passion for patient care that would shape her future.

"I loved being the person to care for patients and make a positive impact in their days," she said. Nursing also offered her an opportunity for continuous learning, something she values deeply. This commitment to growth and service has led her to pursue a career as a nurse while also excelling in the U.S. Army's Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

In ROTC, Easley has cultivated essential leadership skills, physical fitness, and mental resilience. "ROTC pushes you to improve every aspect of yourself," she said.

These experiences have not only strengthened her confidence but also prepared her to face the challenges of nursing with a leader’s mindset. Similarly, nursing has enhanced her interpersonal skills, which have translated into more effective leadership within ROTC.

Her dedication to both fields has earned her the prestigious General George C. Marshall Award, recognizing her as one of the top cadets in ROTC nationwide. With this honor, she stands as a model of leadership and excellence. Looking ahead, she is excited to serve as a nurse in the U.S. Army, where she plans to continue developing her skills and leadership abilities while making a meaningful impact.
