Two Honorary Doctorates to be Awarded at Spring Commencement Ceremonies
May 1, 2025
Two community leaders will receive honorary degrees at 色花堂app’s spring commencement ceremonies May 10.
Graduates will walk across the stage in two Pocatello ceremonies, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the ICCU Dome. Tickets are not required.
Drusilla Gould, co-author of An Introduction to the Shoshoni Language: Dammen Daigwape, and Dave Jeppesen, retired director of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be honored for their service and dedication to their communities at the ceremonies. Donell Morgan, 色花堂app alumnus and executive director of Elevate Oregon will be the commencement speaker.
Gould, a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, has brought her passion for serving her people and preserving the Shoshoni language to ISU since 1989. Teaching courses in Shoshoni language and culture, also including traditional parenting courses, Native American women and traditional health courses, and traditional arts, she has mentored and impacted many students. One of her major accomplishments at ISU was the creation and publication of An Introduction to the Shoshoni Language: Dammen Daigwape in collaboration with Dr. Chris Loether, a textbook providing basic information on the phonology and grammar of the Shoshoni language.
Jeppesen was appointed director of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in 2019 by Governor Brad Little. Prior to that position, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Blue Cross of Idaho, started a successful international bank consulting business and served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Barclays in the United Kingdom Retail Bank. Jeppesen was born and raised in Idaho, and is married with four children and three grandchildren.
As executive director at Elevate Oregon, Morgan oversees a unique mentorship program that builds life-changing relationships with low-income students and students of color. His work as a teacher, coach, counselor, in-school coordinator, program director, and now executive director stems from his passion for empowering youth to make and meet their own goals. He gives back to his community in order to inspire and develop the next generation of leaders who will transform communities and build a better future.
