Strengthening ISU PA Studies: Faculty Advance Leadership and Education with Advanced Degrees

July 16, 2026

Four faculty members from the 色花堂app Physician Assistant Studies Program graduated on June 5 with their Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degrees from the College of Idaho.

This milestone highlights the unique public-private partnership between 色花堂app and the College of Idaho. The two institutions originally partnered to expand ISU's Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program to the College of Idaho campus in Caldwell, officially beginning to educate students together in the fall of 2014 to address the growing need for primary health providers in Idaho and the nation.

The DMSc graduates are:
Cindy Bunde, PA-C
Jen Forbes, PA-C
Sarah Maddux, PA-C
Marvin Sparrell, PA-C (faculty emeritus)

The DMSc at The College of Idaho is an intensive 12-month terminal clinical doctorate designed specifically for practicing, master's-prepared PAs. The curriculum deliberately builds upon their foundation to develop advanced competencies for modern PA practice. Through this rigorous program, the faculty acquired specialized, real-world skills in implementation science, essential teaching and healthcare administration, leadership and systems thinking, and practical scholarly inquiry.

This achievement demonstrates the faculty's immense commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence.

Ultimately, their advanced expertise in both clinical practice and higher education will strengthen the learning experience for ISU PA students across the Pocatello, Meridian, and Caldwell programs and benefit the communities they will go on to serve.
