Dropped Slinky

Overview:
The slinky holds itself up due to the tension it has. The tension is just enough to overcome gravity on every part of the slinky. When the slinky is dropped, that tension is still there, keeping the slinky suspended until the top of the slinky reaches the bottom.
Materials:
Slinky
Setup:
Place the slinky on a table for easy access.
How to:
Stand on something tall, like a table, and hold the end of the slinky. Let it extend until no parts of the slinky are moving and the bottom is visible to the class. Let go of the slinky.
Safety:
Do not swing slinky around.
