Costume Shop
The Costume Shop facility at 色花堂app is a specialized workspace where students learn and gain experience building costumes for courses and productions. This space is well established and features a wide variety of machines, tools, and resources. The lower level of the costume shop features the main workspace, craft room, laundry/dye room, and fitting room. The upper level houses a substantial collection of costume pieces and other equipment. Complementary to the costume shop, located in another space of the building are four dressing rooms and makeup room.
The main workspace of the costume shop hosts three tables of domestic sewing
machines including:
· 15 Bernina 1008/1006 sewing machines
· 3 Bernina and Babylock sergers
The main workspace also features workstations for cutting and ironing with:
· 2 60”x96” cutting tables
· 2 36”x54” ironing tables
· 2 Gravity-fed commercial irons
· 4 commercial steamers
· Water Distiller machine
Additional specialty and industrial machines in our shop include:
· 1 Babylock Allure embroidery and sewing machine
· 2 Industrial Juki sewing machines
· 1 Industrial Juki serger machine
· 1 Hilead Blind Hem machine
Craft room adjoining the main workspace features:
· 42”x 61” Steel top table
· Freight elevator connecting to the upper storage level
· 15”x29” Spray booth
· Silk screen printing cabinet with UV exposure unit
· Cricut machine
· Bench top grommet presses
Laundry/dye room adjoining the main workspace features:
· Ventilation hood
· Stainless steel 40-gallon capacity dye vat
· Stainless steel countertop and double basin sink
· 4 burner electric stove dedicated to dye
· 2 sets of washers and dryers
· Water softener
A private fitting room with floor to ceiling mirrors also adjoins the main costume shop
workspace.
The upper level of the costume shop stores:
· 18 different professional dress forms in men’s sizes ranging from 36-46 and
women’s sizes ranging from 4-24. These forms include a variety of features such as
collapsible shoulders, skirt cages, attachable arms, solid or pinable cores, and rolling or
adjustable height bases
· Approximately 5,000 square feet of organized costume storage with built in
hanging racks and cabinetry
· 15 rolling costume racks
· 60”X96” cutting table
· 48”x96” worktable with 1 domestic Bernina Activa 140 and 1 domestic Juki serger
· 1 industrial Bernina 950 sewing machine
