Fall Trips

Registrations open August 24, 2026 at 9 AM MST

ISU Full-time fee-paying students can go on one free trip of their choosing per semester. Students are welcome to participate in multiple trips for the cost of the trip fee. 

FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE 
Failure to participate or cancellation will not result in a refund for students, staff, or affiliates. All trip registrations are non-refundable. If a student fails to show or cancels their free trip, their ISU account will be charged the full student price of the trip. If a student cancels their free trip or fails to show for their free trip a second time, the student will no longer be eligible for any free trips. 


Thursdays April 9 - October 15, 2026
Ross Park Climbing Area 5:00 PM

This regular climbing session on Thursday evenings at 5 pm is open to beginners and those who have previous climbing experience. Top ropes are set up by the OAC staff at the Ross Park climbing area. We provide the ropes and equipment to ISU students with valid Bengal card free of charge. Community members and ISU faculty/staff can purchase a season pass for $30 or a day pass for $3 onsite.

 

 

Hagerman Whitewater Trip
September 5-September 6, 2026
Departure: 8 AM

Spend Labor Day Weekend exploring the Hagerman Valley near Twin Falls! We will start by hiking along beautiful springs in Box Canyon, paddling to Blue Heart Springs, camping at Thousand Springs, and whitewater rafting on the Hagerman stretch of the Snake River! Trip fees cover transportation, campgrounds, and paddling equipment. You are responsible for your own food and camping gear.  There are hot springs at the campground and if you choose to use them, you are responsible for purchasing your own day pass.

Grand Teton National Park Tour
September 25-26, 2026
Departure Time: 8 AM

Explore Grand Teton National Park with the Outdoor Adventure Center! Hike along lakes with beautiful views of the Tetons, visit historic locations, and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. We will camp in Grand Teton National Park at Colter Bay Campground.

Trip fee covers transportation, campground, and entrance fees. You are responsible for your own camping gear and food. Rentals and purchasing options are available at the OAC.

Rock Climbing at Castle Rocks
October 3, 2026

Departure Time: 8 AM

Join us for a day trip to Castle Rocks State Park to go rock climbing! This trip will include top-roping and sport climbing on single pitch granite domes. All abilities are welcome. There will also be hiking opportunities. Trip fees cover climbing gear, transportation, and park entry fees. You are responsible for your own food. Rentals and purchasing options are available at the OAC.

Yellowstone Tour
October 16-18, 2026

Departure Time: 8 AM

Visit America’s first national park on this tour of Yellowstone’s famous sights. We will see Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, as well as many other geysers, hot pools, wildlife, and waterfalls. We will camp in the park for two nights. Trip fee covers transportation, campground, and entrance fees. You are responsible for your own camping gear and food. Rentals and purchasing options are available at the OAC. Group size: 20

 Yurt Overnight
October 23-24, 2026

Departure: 3:00 PM

Spend a night in an ISU OAC yurt! A yurt is a dome shaped structure that is equipped with bunk beds and a wood burning stove. The group will hike into the yurt, cook dinner, enjoy games in the yurt, then hike out the next morning.  Trip fees cover transportation and yurt rental. You are responsible for your sleeping bag/pad, backpack, and food. Rentals are available at the OAC.

 Yurt Overnight
October 23-24, 2026

Departure: 3:00 PM

Craters of the Moon Exploration
October 24, 2026
Departure Time: 9 AM

Explore Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. Hike amongst the cinder cones, explore inside lava tubes, and more! This is a single day trip, leaving campus in the morning and returning the same evening. Trip fee covers transportation. You are responsible for your own food and drinks. Group size: 10

Moab, Utah Fall Break
November 21-25, 2026

Departure Time: 7 AM

Spend Fall break in the desert of Moab, Utah hiking and exploring the National Parks. Participants will get the opportunity to explore Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Moab has great shopping, restaurants, and activities to participate in. The group will be staying at a camp park in town that has hot showers and bathrooms. The trip fees cover transportation, park entrance fees, and campground. You are responsible for your own camping gear and food. Rentals and purchasing options are available at the OAC. Group size 20

West Yellowstone XC Ski
December 5, 2026

Departure Time: 8 AM

Cross country ski at the Rendezvous Ski Center in West Yellowstone. All abilities welcome.  Enjoy an evening in West Yellowstone before heading returning to campus. Trip fees include transportation, ski pass, and ski equipment. You are responsible for your own food and drinks. Venue is subject to change, relative to snow conditions. Group size 10
